Senior Football League Division 1: St Michaels’ 1-11 – Claregalway 0-16.

Division 4A League: St Michaels’ Juniors 2-12  -- Williamstown 5-18.

Fixtures: Wednesday 30th April April: Under 19 A West League: St Michaels v Moycullen at 7pm in Westside.

Friday 02nd May: Under 13 Division 2 Football League: St Michaels v Spiddal at 6:30 in Westside.

News/Reports:  St Michaels’Seniors suffered a home defeat to Claregalway on Friday evening last on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-16. Michaels’ led by 1-07 to 0-06 at half time but lost the second half 10 points to 4.

Ifs & Buts: If Claregalway had got goals for the 4 times they hit the woodwork, or if Stephen Daly hadn’t made a point blank save plus saved a penalty, we’d have been beaten out the gate. But, if we hadn’t coughed up four points due to poor & silly passes, we’d have won. Score of the day was a patient nine man move finished off by JD Boyle.

Team: S. Daly, C. Meagher, B. Madden & S. Kerr. J. Browne (1-01), JD. Boyle (0-1) & E. Kerin.F. Cruise & D. Sinton. G. Summerville, G. Higgins (0-5(1f & 2x2) & D. McGovern ()-1).  J. Summerville, B. Harlowe (0-1) & K. Campbell. Subs: R. Mac Giolla Rí (0-2) G. Meally, E. Coffee & E. Hoare. Next up is an away game to Mountbellew/Moylough..... It might be Thursday week!

The Juniors won the first half 2-09 to 2-07, drew the No’ 15s shoot-out with 10 points apiece, but took quite the trouncing (3-11 to 3 points) in the second half against Williamstown on Sunday last in Westside, where they lost on a final score of 5-18 to 2-12. Player unavailability at short notice leaves a question mark over some of their commitment, but, it is what it is, and special thanks to those that turned up and fulfilled the fixture. Team: C. Tummon, M. O’ Toole, J. Downes & G. Mealley. A. Hardiman, D. Thornton & E. Harlowe (1-0). F. Daly & D. McGovern (0-2 (T). K. Campbell (1-0), D. Sinton & S. Butler. A. Ryan, E. Hoare & E. Coffee (0-10(3f & 2T). Subs: L. Hackett, D. Barron, L. Flaherty-Shaw & L. McCarthy. Next up is a home game against Annaghdown. Special thanks to the catering committee who had the unenviable task of cleaning the kitchen area & meeting area prior to the game & then proceeded to provide refreshments to players & supporters of both teams afterwards.

Fundraising: The Club will be going ahead again this year with a Golf Am-Am later on in the year. Further information anon’.

Success story of the week is the St Michaels' Under 15 Féile girls who won the County Division 2 Title on Sunday last with a good victory over St Brendans in the Final on a score-line of 1-03 to 2 points.
