Results: Under 17 West B League: St James’ 0-01 – St Michaels’ 0-00... Looks like a walkover on an Easter Sunday!

Under 19 A West League: Oranmore 7-17 – St Michaels’ 2-10.

Fixtures: Friday 25th April: Under 13 Division 2 West: Salthill v St Michaels’ at 7pm in The Prairie.

Friday 25th April: Division 1 Senior League: St Michaels’ v Claregalway at 7pm in Westside.

Sunday 27th April: Division 4A League. St Michaels’ Juniors v Williamstown at 12 noon in Westside. Catering Committee take note! Anyone that ever came in from that place was always hungry!

News/Reports:  My hunch was right about the Under 17s losing to a “walkover”. Our friends on the East side were unable to accommodate our request for an alternative date.

The Under 19s were not really disgraced against the Oranmore Hotshots of U17 in 2024who were a serious outfit. St Michaels’ without their first choice keeper still managed to clock up 2-10 against this much vaunted opposition and sure isn’t A the place you’d like to be?

Book-Launch: Congratulations to Club Secretary Lorcan Mannion who held “another” very successful launch of his book of poetry, and stories titled “Those Left Behind” in Ward’s Hotel on Thursday night last. Fat Larry from Stillorgan did the introductions and he got his retaliations in first! The place was awash with talent, and if one closed their eyes you could be transported up to the Gaiety to be entertained by Seamus Heaney (Lorcan Mannion), Luka Bloom (Tom Barry), Sinead O Connor (Mags Kinsella) to name but a few. Many eyes welled up with tears (and some flowed) as Lorcan recited his very poignant Ode to his good friend and fellow songster in the choir, Kathy Timmins.  The finest of velvet black porter was in full flow, so some of the rest of the entertainers escaped under the radar. More people drank Heineken or Coors Light... but, that was their loss! Carriages were arranged for 11:30 ensuring that all patrons were at home as the clock chimed 12 heralding the arrival of Good Friday. Bush Man had an early night; Tipp Man got a lift home and evaded another taxi charge, while Gander and Yours Truly stung Cavan Hoor for the lift to Newcastle & Westside respectively. A great night out and if you missed it, Hope Space is the Charity you’re looking for if you wish to make a donation. I’m sure Lorcan has plenty more copies of the book available too! I have just found out that there will be a third “Launch” in Kelehans sometime in May, that will bring together members of St Michaels’ Bearna and Rahoon GAA Clubs. Keep an eye or ear out on Club Notes, Social Media or Bush Telegraph. You will not be disappointed.

Fundraising: Special thanks to the organisers and contributors to the recent Club Fundraiser run in conjunction with the Connaught Semi Final in Pearse Stadium on Sunday last. Stephen O Reilly (Half Time €300.00) and Con Cunnane (Full Time €500.00) were the lucky winners.
