News:
A top quality Intermediate Final on Saturday last saw two teams experience the highs & lows of almost winning & almost losing this title before it ended in stalemate at the end of 71 pulsating minutes in Tuam Stadium. St Michaels’ raced into a six point to one lead in the first half but, after 2 big calls by the referee in a sixty second period just before half time in which Caltra scored 1-01, there was only a point in it at half time, 0-07 to 1-03. Michaels’ took a three point lead in the second half only to see it erased and it was now Caltra who led with the finishing line looming. Michaels’ re-grouped and not only levelled, but took a one point lead deep into injury time, only for Caltra to score the leveller late on. Stats’ from the dinosaur calculating system would indicate that St Michaels’ had 61% of the total shots taken on the day. They will meet again this Saturday at 13:45 in Tuam Stadium with the winners lifting the Johnny Cotter Cup.
