News: Kudos this week goes to the Under 19 team & management who dug out a great win over Carraroe in the West Board Under 19 B final on Wednesday night last: Though Michaels’ had the advantage of the slight breeze in the first half, Carraroe shaded matters at half time by 5 points to 4. Michaels’ took advantage of a black card situation on the resumption and took a 3 point lead into the elements. The lead was short-lived and Carraroe pulled away by 2 points going down the finishing straight. To their credit, Michaels’ battled away and Cian Cloherty kicked the equaliser on the stroke of full time. Kane Campbell kicked the last two points of the game to put Michaels’ in front with plenty of time left on the clock. Michaels’ were now down to 14 men and had to make at least 3 desperate clearances to preserve that slenderest of leads and indeed keeper JJ Philips saved a penalty as well in those last minute skirmishes. A great night out under the lights in Killanin!
They will now play the County Final against Menlough-Padraig Pearses in Tuam Stadium on Saturday next at 3pm. Please support these guys.

St Michaels’ Intermediates moved on the County Intermediate Football Semi-Final courtesy of a solid workmanlike performance against St Gabriels’ who were made to look very ordinary on the day. Michaels’, who played against the wind in the first half, went in at the break ahead by 1-04 to 3 points. It was all to play for in the second half, and once Conal Gallagher stuck the ball in the net after a lung-bursting one hundred meter run with the ball, the game was over. Those that had the benefit of streaming because they either stayed at home had emigrated or the MIAs had the benefit of re-watching this wonder goal numerous times. There is still plenty for the management & players to work on as regards losing the ball in the final third of the pitch, but there has been a marked improvement in the accuracy department (3 wides in the entire game) once that stage had been reached. They will now play first-round winners Oranmore over the Bank Holiday weekend. Team: S. Daly, S. Kerr, B. Madden & C. Meagher. J. Browne, E. Fiorentini & E. Kerin (1-01). C. Gallagher (2-01) & E. O’ Donnell. F. Cruise, D. Cunnane (0-01) & F. Daly. G. Higgins (0-07(5f), E. Brannigan (0-01) & B. Harlowe (0-02f). Subs: E. McConnan, G. Summerville (0-01), J. Summerville & R. Mac Giolla Rí.
