Intermediate Championship Group 3: Glenamaddy 0-08 – St Michaels’ 1-14.
Primary Junior 2 Football Championship West: St Michaels’ 0-08 – Claregalway 0-14.
News: The Club’s Junior team shipped a heavy 0-14 to 0-08 defeat to Claregalway in the last game in the group stages of the West Competition. The game was evenly balanced at five points apiece at half time and Michaels’ took the lead for the first time in the game immediately after the resumption. Then, the dreaded third quarter slump set in and the visitors tacked on five points without replay to take control of the game. Eanna Coffee top-scored with 0-04(2f) and Cian Cloherty was our contender for the foot-long. Team: B. Sheridan, M. Fogarty, J. Downes & R. Mac Giolla Rí. A. Hardiman, D. Thornton & C. Cloherty (0-1). D. Sinton (0-1) & D. McGovern. N. Ward, S. O’ Reilly & M. Maguire (0-1. E. Coffee (0-4(2f), E. Hoare (0-1) & J. Summerville. Subs: A. Ryan, C. McNeill, G. Rogan, C. Horan, D. Norden & G. Meally: Next up is a quarter final against Tuam Stars in two weeks time.
The Intermediates took second place in the group with a more than adequate performance against an ordinary Glenamaddy outfit on Saturday last. The half-time score of 1-07 to 2 points indicated the fact that Michaels’ were doing most of the right things in the first half. Complacency and over-confidence crept into their play in the second half which saw errors, sloppiness, wrong options, narrow channels & cheap turnovers leading to Michaels’ shading the half by 7 points to 6. They are now drawn to play Cortoon Shamrocks in a preliminary quarter final in two weeks time. Team: S. Daly, S. Kerr, S. Maloney & C. Meagher. E. Fiorentini (0-1), B. Madden (0-1) & E. Weekly Draw: Numbers drawn in this week’s Peter Curran Electric St Michaels’ GAA Club Draw were: 08-19-22-32. There was no winner of the jackpot. Con Cunnane c/o St Michaels’ GAA Club Lotto Online @ Clubforce and Paul McElwaine c/o Helen @ McGinn’s Hophouse shared the Match 3 prize. Next week’s draw will take place on Monday night 23rd September for a jackpot of €3,450.00.
