Management team: Tom McDonnell, Eileen Coyle, Lucy O Flaherty, Sorcha De Bairead & John Butler.

St Michaels’ and Oranmor Under 13s served up a game of huge entertainment in Westside on Sunday morning last. 24 players from across the Under 12 & 13 ranks contributed to this quarter final victory. A most enjoyable game of pure honest football from two excellent teams.

St Michaels’ Junior team had a good home victory over Ballinasloe in the Division 4B County Semi-Final last Wednesday evening. Playing with a strong gale in the first half, St Michaels’ looked poor value for their eight point to four lead at the interval. They played a much smarter game in the second half and confined their opponents to 1-01 from play for the entire hour. Highlights were a Blaine Sheridan save in the 2nd half that replicated Gordon Bank’s famous 1970 save in Mexico. Cian Morley’s 45 into the teeth of the gale in the 2nd half was another talking point. Eanna Coffee top-scored with six points. Team: B. Sheridan, L. Wyer, C. Keane & R. Mac Giolla Rí (0-1). L. Brannigan, D. Thornton & F. Cruise. D. McGovern (0-2) & D. Sinton (0-2).N. Ward (0-1), S. Reilly & M. Maguire (0-1). E. Coffee (0-6(3f), E. Hoare (0-1) & C. Morley (0-1(45). Subs: P. Mulkerrin, M. Sheridan, C. Keady-Coakley & A. Ryan. They are now promoted to Division 4A for 2025 and play Tuam Stars in the 2024 County Final this weekend.

The Junior Bs suffered a defeat at the hands of Annaghdown in Westside on Friday evening. “Goals win matches” and Annaghdown won this particular contest 4-1, even though the Michaels’ defence will accept 2 of them were preventable. Up front, the Michaels’ boys kept failing to realise that you don’t get through a walled defence through the middle. Highlight was Dylan Thornton’s “screamer” into the top corner and once again, Eanna Coffee top-scored with six points. Next up is a trip to Carna/Caiseal at the weekend. Team: G. Rogan (0-1), C. Rice, C. Tummon & F. McKeague. C. Morley, P. Tormay & L. Wyer (0-1). R. Mac Giolla Rí & D. Thornton (1-01). C. McNeill ((0-1), E. Coffee (0-6(2f) & C. Keady-Coakley (0-2). A. Ryan (0-1), T. Curran & D. Flaherty/Shaw. Subs: P. McTigue (0-1), B. Sheridan, A. Scally & P. Cunningham. Final Score: St Michaels’ 1-14 --- Annaghdown 4-12.
