Sometime around 1996 or 1997, St Michaels’ GAA Club were blessed to have twins Barry & Jason Moran doing the business at Under 14 level for St Mixchaels’ Juvenile Under 14 team. The boys blossomed and developed into fine footballers, winning a County Minor A Title with St Michaels’ in 2001 before they went on and developed their skills and status as International soccer players. Now St Michaels’ Ladies Gaelic Football Club are very proud of their Under 14 players, Ciara and Grace Coyle who have been invited into the County Under 14 Panel. Everybody at St Michaels’ will wish them every success and follow their progress with great pride and interest.
While we are on the “Twins Theme”, massive congratulations to our very own and Galway’s First Citizen, Mayor Eddie Hoare and his wife Pam on the birth of their daughter Harper last week.
St Michaels’ GAA Club were very proud to be represented by former player, manager, coach, referee, Delegate, Officer and current Committee member and referee, Tom Nally, at Gradaim an Uachtaráin in Croke Park last Friday evening when he was presented with a prestigious President’s Award from GAA President Larry McCarthy. Tom was the only representative from Connaught to receive such an award this year.
The first fundraiser being undertaken by the Finance Committee on the 2024 calendar is the St Michaels’ GAA Super-Bowl Boxes Fundraiser for February. The match is on Sunday Night next (11th Feb’) and entries MUST be submitted by noon on Friday 09th February. Cost is €20.00 per box with a chance of winning 4 prizes ranging from €100.00 to €400.00.
