Junior A County Final: St Michaels 0-10 – Carraroe 0-03

Under 19 B Championship West Final: St Michaels v Bearna at the Prairie on Saturday next (14th October 2023) at 2pm.
Summary: St Michaels’ Junior A team won the County Title in Inverin on Sunday last when they defeated Carraroe by ten points to three. It was a game where St Michaels’ defence was always in control and even if the attack was well of target & somewhat wasteful, the full back line got to contribute two points to the score-board. St Michaels’ led by five points to one at half time and it looked like an identical score-line would be repeated in the second half until Carraroe got their first point from play in the 58th minute. Greg Rogan after 2 forgettable efforts in the first half, got the score of the day with a point from distance from the side-line, and this effort obviously swayed it for the Man-of-the-Match judges in the Press Box. Afterwards Cathal Sweeney presented the Paddy Sweeney Perpetual Cup to winning captain Frank Daly. Well done to this team and management who carried the pain of last year’s heart-breaking defeat in the final through this season and turned a negative into a great positive with a fine victory!

Football Board: You may have noticed by now, that the Galway Football Board have launched a fundraising initiative in the guise of a limited draw to “Win a Home” at a cost of €100.00 per ticket, limited to 20,000 tickets. We are asking all of our members and sponsors who may be considering the purchase of a ticket(s), to buy them through our Club. St Michaels’ have received an allocation to distribute in return for some discount on Board costs in 2024. . Lotto: Numbers drawn in this week’s Peter Curran Electric St Michaels’ GAA Club Draw were: 03-11-12-13. There was no winner of the Jackpot.
