Results from the past week are as follows.

Under 17 A Shield Final: St Michaels 1-09 – Annaghdown 2-10

Fixtures are as Follows:

County Junior A County Final: St Michaels v Carraroe next Sunday in Inverin at 1pm.

Under  19 B Championship West Final: St Michaels v Bearna To Be Arranged!

Summary: The curtain came down on the Under 17 panel’s season on Sunday last when Annaghdown defeated St Michaels’ by four points. Playing against the strong win in the first half, St Michaels played well and a three point deficit at the break (1-06 to 0-06) looked manageable. But, as the old saying goes, “wind never won any game”, proved to be true with the Michaels’ boys making poor use of the elements and shooting a total of 8 wides to their opponents’ 3. There are some lovely footballers on the St Michaels’ squad and no doubt they will progress to play at Under 19 and adult level next year. Many more were punching above their weight and are eligible to play Under 17 again next year. Team: JJ Philips, Finn Hiney (0-1), J. Keane & T. Lavelle. JOF, L, Wyer, M. Murphy & C. Cloherty (0-1). J. Coyle & C. McNeill (0-2 (0-1 Mark). R. Keady (1-0), E. Coffee (0-1f) & J. Keenan. C. O’ Donoghue, C. Keady (0-2) & K. Campbell (0-2). Subs: C. O’ Toole, S. Keane, S. Butler, K. Bona & F. Dankurt.

The Junior A Teaam & Management are looking to go one step further this year after being defeated by Tuam Stars in heart-breaking fashion last year in the County Final. We are asking all supporters to have their hearty breakfasts before noon and to get out & support the lads for a 1pm throw-in.

With the exception of one family, there hasn’t been a great response to the Club’s plea for County Board Tickets (Win a Home) to be purchased through the Club. Further information below under County Board Paragraph.

Football Board: You may have noticed by now, that the Galway Football Board have launched a fundraising initiative in the guise of a limited draw to “Win a Home” at a cost of €100.00 per ticket, limited to 20,000 tickets. We are asking all of our members and sponsors who may be considering the purchase of a ticket(s), to buy them through our Club. St Michaels’ have received an allocation to distribute in return for some discount on Board costs in 2024. .  Anyone purchasing may do so by contacting the Club Treasurer, Eamonn Smyth at 087 6461305 or Ollie Sheridan at 087 2643160
