News:
The St Michaels’ Junior A team just about kept their unbeaten record in their current group intact when they snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat against Loughrea in the remote venue of Bushfield on Friday last. A draw or victory in their last game against Monivea/Abbey will see them through to the final. Team: S. Daly, M. Fogarty, J. Downes & L. Brannigan. A. Dunne, E. Fiorentini & D. Thornton. D. Sinton & N. Warde (1-0). R. Mac Giolla Rí (0-1), G. Rogan (0-2f) & F. Daly (0-4(3f). D. A Masa, P. Tormay (0-1) & H. Browne (0-1). Subs: P. McTigue (0-1) & E. Tummon. Final score: Loughrea 0-13 – St Michaels’ 1-10).
The Seniors ticked the 3rd and final box of the W, L & D columns on their League Table with a hard-earned draw against Tuam Stars in Duggan Park in Ballinasloe on Saturday. The “shots –at-target” stats’ would indicate that St Michaels dug out the point with 45% of the play. The group is wide open at the moment and the next outing against Claregalway will be of huge importance, as we will be the only Senior Club in the county not having a game on the final day of the group stages. Team: T. O’ Malley, S. Kerr, S. Maloney & E. Kerin. B. Madden, J. Browne & D. Cunnane. C. Gallagher & G. Higgins (0-2f). G. Summerville (1-0), B. Harlowe (0-3)1f) & D. O’ Malley (1-0). E. McConnon, E. O’ Donnell & E. Brannigan (0-1). Subs: S.’ Reilly, C. Meagher & E. Day.
Michaels’ Under 19s won their long awaited duel with Oughterard this evening on a score-line of 3-15 to 0-10. Team: C. Cooke, J. McDonnell, C. Horan & E. Thornton. E. Harlowe, M. Fogarty & M. Caffrey (0-2). C. Keady & R. McG Rí (0-3). C. Madden, J. Summerville (0-8(5f) & K. Keady-Coakley ((0-1). B. Carew (1-0), D. Regan (1-0) & C. Mannion. Subs: M. Sheridan (1-1) & J. Coyle. They have topped their group with a game to spare, and that spare game is in the Westside on this Wednesday against Oranmore (well worth a look!).
A little note on Housekeeping! The cost of Electricity has continued at the rather inflated rate and lights being left on overnight in the Clubhouse as happened during the week, is no help to our finances.
