Congratulations to Rico Casey & his helpers who ran a very successful Club Fundraiser that was in conjunction with the Roscommon v Galway Connaught Championship match on Sunday last. Ciaran Connolly, Aoife O Donnell, John Egan, Jamie Downes, Barry Cummins, Tommy Curran, Nathan Bowles and Dympna Maloney all won €100. Mark Hickey, Mairead Mannion, James Egan and Ross Meagher won €200 each. Carl Hegarty, Johanna Downes, Gerry Gallagher & Stephen Daly won the €400 prizes and St Michaels’ GAA Club are better off to the tune of over €4k. Thanks to all for your support.
On the Field the following is the information available:
Senior: St Michaels’ Senior team travel to Spiddal on Sunday next for round 2 of their Senior League. Throw in at 12:30.
Junior A: The Junior A team despite leading by 1-7 t- 1-1 at half time, lost by 3-7 to 2-8 at full time, and this second defeat in as many outings, puts them on the back foot. Young Darragh O Malley was scorer in chief. They travel to play Oughterard at 8pm on Friday evening.
Junior C: The game versus Oughterard has been cancelled for a second time and this squad have remained without a game to date. They are scheduled to host Gaeil na Gaillimhe on Saturday evening at 7pm.
Under 19: The Under 19 team had a massive 1-14 to 2-10 win over Moycullen out there on Wednesday last. Gary Higgins kicked the winner from 45 meters. In the deferred clash against Salthill, played this evening in Westside, St Michaels won in convincing fashion by 1-15 to 9 points.
Under 17: St Michaels’ defeated Micheal Breathnachs by 2-13 to 10 points in the Westside on Sunday evening and will have their next game on Wed 11th August against Carraroe.
Under 15: Those boys are after a little break and are at home to Clifden on Friday at 6:15.
Under 13: The Club’s Under 13 team scored 6 goals to defeat Carna Caiseal / Na Piarsaigh by 6-6 to 3-8 out in Carna on Tuesday last. They host Clonbur this evening at 7pm and a week later they will be away to Bearna.
Under 12: These lads beat Carna Caiseal / Na Piarsaigh by 4-6 to 1-4 at the Westside.
The proposed “Meitheal” obviously got lost in translation somewhere along the line, with numbers lower than anticipated, but this was not the fault of the Ladies’ Club who turned up in numbers on Saturday morning and did a huge amount of work. The Clubhouse and Grounds are ours to mind and maintain, give something for our players & supporters to be proud of, and a sense of pride to prevail throughout the fabric of the entire Club from Under 8 to Committee level. Thanks to all who lent a hand on Saturday.
Tonights numbers in the Peter Curran Electric St Michaels’ GAA Club Lotto draw were: 06-16-17-22. There was no winner of the jackpot. Larry Page, Nathan Scariff and Eric Ryan all c/o Helen @ The Sliding Rock shared the match 3 prize. This week’s draw will be for €2,600.00. Thank you for your support.
