AIB Junior B West final

Sean Treacys 2-10 Golden 1-8 AET

We played Golden on Sunday at noon at Bansha on the 4th October  in knockout championship and with time nearly up Treacys levelled to make it 1-7 each. Treacys led four points to one after twenty minutes with our resident full forward Martin McLoughlin opening the scoring followed by Declan Hickey, Martin again with a free and Sean Kennedy. Treacy's Captain Shane Reynolds who collected the Cup later in the day was out injured and was replaced by Tom Hickey from the start who played centre back with Declan O'Toole playing very well at full back. Golden took over adding one goal and two points to their opening one with their best point from Charles Walsh and a wonder goal from Brian Fogarty. PJ McLoughlin got a point before halftime leaving the score 1-3 to Treacys 0-5 at the break.

The second half came alive with a Michael O'Gorman goal after five minutes with Treacys and Golden trading points on the tenth minute, Barry for Golden and the full forward for Treacys. Golden hit a purple patch to go ahead with the veterans Looby and Halley getting one each. Was it over, were Golden champions, people were thinking when up popped Martin McLoughlin to level the game and head for extra time. The large crowd got the extended entertainment started with a super sub Jody Ryan point early in extra time. The Treacy number fourteen got a vintage point two minutes later and the fittest man in the Treacy team Seamus Carey struck gold in the tenth minute of the first period with a goal. Martin McLoughlin put over another point with the fist this time before he was replaced by the lively Adrian Hurley. Golden's only response was a point from a free before the final whistle and the Treacy celebrations. Then Matty Finnerty West Chairman paid tribute to both teams and thanked Galtee for the excellent pitch and AIB for sponsoring the West championship in hard times and then he presented the cup to Shane Reynolds. The Treacy Captain paid tribute to Myles Devitt and his selectors with particular mention for Trainer Diarmuid Sheehy. We look forward to the County final against Clonmel Og and wish Treacys the West champions success.
