Junior Hurling
We took on Golden Kilfeacle in Clonoulty Thursday 30th July in the 5th round of Group 2 of the West Junior B Hurling Championship. Following wins over Cappawhite, Arravale Rovers and a walkover from Lattin Cullen we knew a win would see us qualify for the semi-final stages of the competition.

We got off to a good start and scores from Ollie Carr, Sean Kennedy and a brace from Ger O’Toole saw us race into a 0-04 to 0-01 lead after 10 minutes. Golden responded however and levelled matters quickly. Damien Nolan then began to exert an influence with some direct runs at the heart of the Golden defence and contributed 1-1 himself and setting up Simon Maher for a well taken point. Sean Kennedy tacked on 3 further points as Treacys took control of proceedings. Unfortunately at the 20 minute mark Maher’s game came to an end as he received a blow to the arm which saw Golden reduced to 14 men. The remainder of the half became loose as both teams were guilty of errors but scores from Carr and Kennedy again maintained Treacys dominance as we led 1-12 to 0-05 at the break.

Despite playing the second half with an extra man the 2nd half was a more even affair with Golden now coming to terms our attack however further points from Carr, O’Toole and an excellent effort from distance by John Butler kept the lead intact. Golden fought back to reduce the deficit to 7 points but the switch of Ger Egan to wing forward paid dividends as he fired over a good point from the wing. Ger O’Toole and Ollie Carr with a fine individual effort rounded off Treacys scoring but Golden had the final say as they crashed a 21 yard free to the net but it was too little too late as the final whistle blew from the resulting puck out and Treacys claimed victory on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-12

The team lined out as follows
Seamus Butler, Mark Hogan, Seamus Costello, Greg Kennedy, Liam Nolan, Ger Egan (0-01), Pat Hickey, Ger O’Toole (0-03), John Butler (0-01), Mikie Hayes, Sean Quigley, Sean Kennedy (0-08), Damien Nolan (1-01), Ollie Carr (0-04), Simon Maher (0-01). Subs used: Dylan Fahey, Liam Ryan, William Ryan, Kevin Ryan
