O Gara Cup
Our Kilduff Construction sponsored team welcomed Mal Gately’s St Croans to Knockcroghery on Tuesday evening. This makes it 7 wins out of 7. The game was played in wet and windy conditions which resulted in a low scoring 1st half. Jamie Tiernan with 3 from play and Mark Watson clipping over 3 frees to leave us 2 points up at half time. St Dominics 0.06 to 0.04. St Croans started the second half well bringing our lead down to the minimum after 5 min played. However, our lads moved up the gears after this, scoring 2.05 without reply to leave a fulltime score of St Dominic’s 2.12 to St Croans 0.06. Best for us on the day were Jack Lohan and Ethan Connaughton who were solid and only letting the opposition in for 1 point from play. Robbie Gately and MJO’Connor worked hard in midfield and in the forwards Jamie in the 1st half and Cian Kelly in the 2nd half with Mark Watson being impressive throughout.

Our Warm N Cosy Homes sponsored 2nd team suffered their first defeat of the season down in Croghan on Wednesday evening against table toppers Shannon Gaels. Dominics started the better team but were guilty of leaving a few goals behind them in the opening period. Shannon Gaels took their goal chance after a mix up in the square to leave 3 points in it after 20 minutes played. Our lads rallied and scored the next 3 points to leave it level at half time, St Dominic’s 0.05 to 1.02. The opening period of the second half was evenly contested with Dominic’s hitting 4 of the 6 opening scores to leave us ahead by 2 points after 15 minutes. This was as good as it got as Shannon Gaels kicked on as our lads tired. Full time St Dominics 0.10 Shannon Gaels 1.13. A lot of good performances in the 1st 45 minutes in particular Camin in the forwards and Pa Tiernan and Rob Owens in the half back line.
