Tansey Cup

Our Warm N Cosy Homes sponsored 2nd team had a fine win against Kilglass Gaels in Knockcroghery on Friday evening. It leaves us 2nd in the table with four games to go. It was a slow first 10 minutes for our lads as they found themselves 2 points down. We burst into life for the next 20 minutes, hitting 8 points in a row. Danny O’Brien helping himself to 3 points and Camin Boland to 2 points in this period. Half time Dominics 0.09 Kilglass 0.03. Kilglass again started the half the better team scoring 1.02 in the 1st 7 minutes to leave the minimum between the teams.  A huge Conor Fallon free from outside the 45 was our 1st score of the half and a vital one as we were under pressure. Our defence for the 2nd week in a row came up trumps as we only conceded 2 more points and added 3 more to win the game by 0.13 to 1.07. Sean Kenny made sure we didn’t concede another goal with a super clearance off the line in the last few minutes. Best on the day was James Fagan, Lorcan Lyons and MJ O’Connor who defended well, secured turnovers and set up several scores for the forwards.

Team C Fallon (.02), L Lyons (.01), S Kenny, J Fagan, P Tiernan (.01), R Dempsey, R Owens, R Gately (.01), MJ O’Connor, J Gately, C Kelly (.02), D O’Brien (0.04). G Keenan, K Feerick, C Boland (.02) Subs J Tiernan, B Sherriff, S Kilcline, M Beirne

We have 2 games scheduled for next week, St Croans on Tuesday in Division 2 at home and away to Shannon Gaels at 8 on Wednesday in the Division 3.

Camogie

On Saturday our U15 Feile qualified Camogie team were extremely busy with their fundraiser. They organised a cake sale in Knockcroghery Community Centre and a car wash in The Clay Pipe Car Park. It was a huge success and lots of fun and treats were had by all.

The girls will be travelling to Gusserane GAA outside New Ross in Wexford on 22nd of June to compete in Div 3 alongside Tralee Parnells, Kerry,  Gusserane, Wexford, Crossmaglen, Armagh, Burren Rangers, Carlow, Navan, Meath, Bredagh, Down and St Anne’s, Waterford.

Congratulations once again to the girls and management for a wonderful achievement and a fantastic day.

Ladies Football

The St.Dominic’s Ladies entered two teams in the Connacht 7’s competition - A senior and a junior team. The senior team played Westport, Kilkerrin Clonberne, Dunmore McHales and Eoghan Rua. The Junior team played Glinsk, Kilconly, St.Brigids and Annaghdown. A great experience for players and management and Dominic’s hope to return next year!

Connacht Gold U16 Football Division 2

St Dominics played St.Brigids in the Division 2 league final on Sunday 26th of May.  It was not to be their day. Hard luck to the u16 lads who gave it their all in what was a very tough, tight, competitive game.

The first half was very tight, with both teams getting to know each other. It was a low scoring half with Dominics leading 4 points to 3.

The second half, St Brigids came out and scored 2 goals in quick succession, which meant Dominics had an uphill struggle for the remainder of the game. The lads gave it their all, but ultimately, were unable to grab the win.

Congratulations to St.Brigids, who won out the game. The final scoreline was:

St.Dominics 1.05

St.Brigids 3.09

Thank you to all who came out to support on a damp wet evening.

U8 & U10 HURLING.

A massive well done to all U8&U10 boys who played  Boyle, Four Roads and Oran on Saturday morning, 25th of May, at their second blitz of the season.

Both teams gave a great display of hurling and played their hearts out in each and every game. The smiles on their faces at the end said it all.

Thanks to Oran for organising the blitz.

Thanks to all parents for their continued support and for cheering on the lads on Saturday morning.
