On the sports front the minor footballers had a great win last Friday night in the west final against Rockwell in Cashel. The final score was Golden 3-12 Rockwell 0-7. The Golden lads were far superior all through the game, clearly well coached by Michael Doyle. Most of the scores over the hour came from play and were of the highest quality. Congratulations to the management and all the team. Their county semi final may not be for a few weeks, next up for the minors is the hurling west final against Cappawhite, the game has been provisionally fixed for Monday week although there is a possibility it may not be played. Elsewhere the junior footballers had a narrow one point victory over Annacarty in the west championship. A point from Shane Luby in injury time sealed the win for Golden who were the better team over the hour but wasted many chances. The final score was Golden 1-9 Annacarty 2-5. They now have qualified for the semi final stages of the junior championship, but have one remaining fixture to be played. Finally last night the U/21’s played Sean Treacys in the west semi final up in Annacarty. These sides met earlier in the year in the league stages and Golden managed a narrow victory. However last night the Golden lads played some terrific hurling and easily dismissed the Sean Treacys challenge. The final score was Golden 2-21 Sean Treacys 0-9. Golden now meet Aherlow in the west final. Aherlow were comfortable winners when they met in the league stages so it will be a big game for the Golden lads. Again there is no fixture yet for the final. This Friday night the junior hurlers are out against Rosegreen in the final league game of the west championship. Golden need a win to be sure of qualifying for the last four so this will be a cracker. Best of luck to all involved. Elsewhere the senior hurlers will be back to training this weekend as they prepare for the last sixteen in the county. The dates and fixtures will be announced next Monday night after all the divisional finals are played. . Thats all folks- Sham
