On the sports front the senior hurlers were desperately unlucky last weekend in the west senior hurling championship when they were narrowly defeated by Clonoulty/Rossmore on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-7. The game was played above in Cappawhite last Sunday evening in horrendous conditions, with heavy rainfall throughout the game. The lads played tremendously well over the hour matching a highly fancied Clonoulty team in every department. It was the first time in all their games that Clonoulty failed to raise a green flag which was a tribute to the stout defending of the Golden lads. In the end a mighty effort just came up short but the lads can certainly take great hope from this game as the build up continues to the crunch game against Annacarthy sometime in the next two weeks. This game is a winner take all affair with the victor going on to play Clonoulty again in the semi final of the west championship. Elsewhere the U/21 team were well beaten last Wednesday night by a very strong Aherlow team. On the night the team never got going and struggled to stay with a very fit and focused Aherlow side. The lads now face a possible play off with either Aherlow or Sean Treacys in the coming weeks. The minor hurlers got a walkover from Rockwell Rovers in the west championship and now qualify for the semi finals. The Junior B team also played an excellent challenge this evening against Windgap of Kilkenny with the game finishing in a draw. They have one more fixture to come against Rosegreen with a victory guaranteeing a place in semi finals stage. The junior footballers play Annacarthy this Friday night in the Junior Football championship Thats all folks- rmember the lotto is now up €10300 so consider joining for €2 a week Bingo continues this Thursday night in the new sports hall All are welcome Sham
