Last Sunday evening the Golden senior hurling team had a terrific victory in the West Senior championship when they defeated Cashel by 2-9 to 0-3. Great credit is due to the lads, after a bad start the previous week this was a terrfic performance from the team. From the off Golden looked in control in all sectors of the field and Cashel struggled to match their hunger and determination. The lads went in at half time 0-6 to 0-1 up and possibly could have been more ahead. In the second half with a slight breeze against them the team showed great heart by repelling every attack Cashel threw at them and two goals in quick succession from Sean and Michael Carr effectively ended the game as a contest. Great credit is due to the entire panel and they can now look forward with optimism to crunch games coming up on Saturday 10 May against Cappawhite in Bansha and possibly the following Wednesday against great rivals Annacarthy.

Elsewhere the minors got off to a great start in their campaign with a comprehensive victory over Solohead, they now face

Cappawhite this Wednesday evening in what will be a much tougher game.

The junior hurlers also made a start to the year with a keenly contested challenge match against Killenaule last Monday evening- in very bad conditions the lads hurled very well, more challenge matches are expected in the coming weeks as they too prepare for championship.

On the bank holiday weekend coming up the Golden intermediate footballers start their campaign against Emly this Friday evening. We wish them the best of luck.

Bingo continues this Thursday night in the new sports hall
