MENS NOTES:

The seniors played out an exciting draw with Annaghdown in the final of division 1 of the league, in Headford on Sunday.   The game ended in a draw at full time, normal time  – Corofin  0-10 to Annaghdown 2-4, with Alan O'Donovan scoring the equalising point with the last kick of the game from a 45.

Corofin led by 3 points as the end of extra-time approached.  However Damien Comer goaled from a 14 m free to leave the final score: Corofin 0-15 to Annaghdown 3-6.

The replay is likely to be on Sunday 21 December.

The final of the under 21 championship in which Corofin play Barna is scheduled for Saturday 20 December.

We play the All Ireland quarter-final against Tír Chonail Gaels in Ruislip, London on Sunday 14 December at 1.00 pm.  Extra time will be played if necessary.  Referee for the game is Fergal Kelly of Longford.

Our intermediates had a play-off game in division 3 of the league against Monivea-Abbey in Loughgeorge on Tuesday night.

Congratulations to our players who picked up awards at the weekend.  10 of our senior panel were selected on the Galway football ‘Dream Team’ and received their awards in the Claregalway Hotel on Friday night.  At the same event, Kerry footballer, Killian Young presented the player of the year award to Micheál Lundy.  Ronan Steede and Gary Sice were present with their ‘man-of-the-match’ awards in the GAA Centre, Ballyhaunis on Saturday night.  On the same night, Micheál Lundy received the Galway Bay FM  Sports Personality of the Year award in football.

Nobody predicted the final score in our “Guess the Score” competition for the Connacht final.  The club is donating €50 to Darren Brady, who is taking part in a White Collar Boxing fundraiser for Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.  The winner of our lucky draw for a completed card was Daithí Killilea, who wins €40.

Date for your diary: The club AGM is being held in Belclare on Friday night 9 January.  Further details later.
