MENS NOTES:

Our seniors play Mountbellew / Moylough in the the final quarter-final of the championship in Tuam Stadium at 1.45 pm on Sunday.  Best wishes to the team and management.  Your support for the team in this game is appreciated.

The seniors maintained their top spot in the league, division 1, with a win over St. James by 2-12 to 1-10 on Saturday evening.

Our intermediates made up somewhat for the dissapointment of the defeat in the championship, with a great win over Mícheál Breathnach in the league, division 3 on Sunday afternoon in Corofin.  The final score was 1-12 to 1-10.

Our minors had a good win over Tuam Stars in the A football championship, semi-final, played last Wednesday.  They will now play Mountbellew-Moylough in the north board final.

Hard luck to the under 16s who lost to Claregalway in the 2nd Round of the U16A Championship, played last Tuesday (26 Aug) in Corofin.  The club would like to thank the players, parents and the management team for their time and commitment throughout the year.  The year is not over yet with a lot of this team on the minor panel.  In addition, the under 15 league will be starting on 14 Sept. with a home match against Annaghdown.

Under 13s travel to Dr Crokes, Killarney on Saturday morning next to play in the Colm Cooper Tournament.  The bus leaves Corofin at 7.30 am sharp.  Best of luck to the team and mentors.  We are the defending champions – so bring home “Gooch's Cup” again this year lads – no pressure!

Under 12s play Tuam Stars in Belclare on Sunday at 11.00. Players must be in Belclare at 10.30.

Under 10s play in the Declan Kearns tournment on Saturday in Tuam Stars grounds. Thanks to Tuam Stars for the invite.  We will host our under 10s Kevin Killeen tournment on Saturday 27 September in Belclare.  Further details later.

Under 6 and 8 continue their training on Saturday morning in Belclare at 10.0

The Corofin GAA club sympathises with the McCabe family, Caherlistrane, on the death of Paddy, a former chairman of the Caherlistrane club.  Sympathies are also extended to the Reilly family on the death of Margaret (Peg) Reilly, Currandrum, Cummer.  May they rest in peace.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

U8s training takes place every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare.

The U10s have training every Tuesday from 6.15 to 7.30 in Corofin and also every Thursday from 6.15 to 7.30 in Belclare.  Please note change of times.

U12s had a good win last week over St Gabriels on a final score of 6-12 to 4-6.  Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday at 6.15 in Belclare.  All Girls need to attend in order to prepare for upcoming Championship matches.

Best of luck to the under 16 girls in the Kilmurry Ibrickane’s National sevens next Saturday.

Well done to the under 18 girls in the first round of championship. Training this Thursday in Belclare at 7.30pm.  All players please attend.

The Senior Championship semi-final versus Dunmore is fixed for next Saturday the 6th in Monivea.  Please support the team in their efforts to get to a County Final this year.

Dublin ladies senior footballers proved too good for Galway and are through to the All-Ireland final.  For Galway, however, this was a third successive semi-final defeat.  Thanks to Tracey Leonard, Leonie Higgins, Meadhbh Maloney and Tina Hughes for their involvement with the team all year.
