MENS NOTES:

The seniors had good win in round 2 of the league over Tuam Stars on Saturday evening by 2-11 to 0-10.

In the junior A league we played Mountbellew / Moylough.  It was 0-05 to 0-03 in favour of Mountbellew / Moylough at half time, but Mountbellew / Moylough dominated the 2nd half to run out convincing winners by 3-08 to 0-06.

Our minors lost the league game last Wednesday on a scoreline of Mountbellew/Moylough 2-14 to  Corofin 3-8.

Under 16 played Caherlistrane last evening Tuesday in the third round of the league.

We play Glenamaddy-Glinsk in the 4th round of the league on Tuesday 22nd of April at 7.00 in Glenamaddy

It was Under 14 Féile weekend with the first of our Under 14 teams taken part in the Féile Competition in Clonbern.  They had wins over Mountbellew-Moylough and Kilkerrin-Clonberne and a draw with Glenamaddy-Glinsk in the group stages, which left them level with Glenamaddy-Glinsk and a play-off was required between the two teams to determine a group winner which Corofin won.  This resulted in a semifinal game against Monivea-Abbeyknockmoy in Tuam Stars pitch on Saturday evening, which Corofin won on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-6 following a great game of football.  This secured a place in the final in Pearse Stadium on Sunday against Bearna.  However Bearna proved too strong for Corofin winning by 2-6 to 0-5.  Although bitterly disappointed at losing the final, it was a great achievement to get there. The panel who took part in the Féile over the weekend consisted of Eoin Broderick, Andrew Burns, David Cannon, Robert Carr, Ian Collins, Matthew Cooley, Joey Duggan, Tony Gill, Cian Gillespie, Jason Gorham, Adam Hession, Jake Hogan, Dean Hynes, Adam Lowry, Ciarán Melia, Jack McHugh, Jamie McIntyre, Darren O’Brien, Seán Raftery, David Reilly and Rossa Ryan.

Our second team travelled to Carraroe for their Féile competition and were narrowly defeated  by Carraroe, Clifden and Lettermore. This was a great display by this very young team and managers who travelled to Carraroe and give such a good account of themselves and will stand to them for next year’s competition.

Corofin GAA would like to thank the players team mentors and parents for giving their time last weekend and making it such a brilliant weekend for everyone.
