GAA CLUB NOTES

On Thursday, the Junior team hosted St. Mary’s Athenry in Corofin pitch for Round 4 Division 4B. It was a very tight game with only the slimmest of margins separating the teams at the final whistle. Corofin 0-10 St Mary’s Athenry 2-05.

On Friday evening, the Senior team were away to Milltown for Round 4 of Division 1. It was a convincing win for the Senior team with goals coming from Dyland Canney (x2) and Micheál Lundy. The final scoreline was Corofin 3-17 Milltown 0-08.

On Saturday, the Intermediate team hosted Oranmore-Maree at Corofin pitch for Round 4 of Division 3A. It was another good win for the Club at the weekend as the lads gave a tremendous footballing display. Final scoreline was Corofin 1-20 Oranmore-Maree 2-09, goal scored by Rory Donnellan.

The U-19’s host Tuam Stars at Corofin pitch at 7:30pm Wednesday evening for Round 3 of the Sweeney Oil U19 ‘A’ North League. Best of luck to the Players and Management Team.

LGFA CLUB NOTES

On Friday evening, the second team played Ballinasloe at Corofin pitch for Round 4 of Division 4. It was a great second half performance from the girls but ultimately, they fell just short of being able to close the gap on the scoreboard. Final score Corofin 2-07 Ballinasloe 1-12. Both goals from Rachel Burke.

On Saturday evening the third team were away to Tuam-Cortoon for Round 4 of Division 8. It was always going to be a tough game for our third team but they gave battled very well against a strong Tuam-Cortoon side. Unfortunately, the game ended in Tuam-Cortoon’s favour with the scoreline Corofin 3-01 Tuam-Cortoon 2-17. Goals from Anna Cooley and Katie McElroy.

On Sunday afternoon, the first team hosted Naomh Mhuire at Corofin pitch for Round 4 of Division 1. Playing without our county stars & a few injuries, a youthful side got stuck in from the start.

Well worked goals, finished by Abbie Daly, Laura McTigue and Roisin Delaney in the 1st half and a cracker from Emily O'Connor in the 2nd half, saw the girls over the line. But it was the defence who stood out all through the match! Final scoreline Corofin 4-06 Naomh Mhuire 2-09.

UNDERAGE

The girls U-15 Feile took place over the weekend. Our girls travelled to Ballinasloe Saturday morning for their Division 2 group games against Claregalway, Loughrea and Ballinasloe. The girls started the day with a healthy victory over Claregalway, but tight, intense game against Loughrea and Ballinasloe both ended in narrow defeats. Throughout all three games, the girls played some brilliant football and represented the Club with distinction, well done girls.

The Nursery Group continues every Saturday from 10:30am until 11:15am. This is training for Boys and Girls born in 2018/2019.
