GAA CLUB NOTES

The Junior team played Round 2 of the Junior Championship on Friday against Tuam Stars in Tuam. It was a tightly contested match and there was no separating the teams at the final whistle with the score level on Corofin 1-10 Tuam Stars 0-13.

On Saturday morning the Junior A team concluded their season when they hosted Oranmore-Maree in Corofin. It was always going to be a very tough game for our furth adult team as they faced a very strong Oranmore-Maree, scoreline finished Corofin 0-6 Oranmore-Maree 3-11.

The Seniors kicked off their Championship in style against Salthill-Knocknacarra on Saturday afternoon in Tuam Stadium. 2 goals in the opening 2 minutes from Jason Leonard and Jack McCabe set the tone for the game and the lads never looked back. Liam Silke got a third goal in the second half and the lads finished the game on a healthy winning margin of Corofin 3-10 Salthill-Knocknacarra 0-06.

LGFA CLUB NOTES

The Senior team won the Senior Coen Cup Shield Final on Thursday evening in Corofin against Glenamaddy! The girls took a commanding lead in the first half thanks to a penalty save from Amy Conneely and two goals from Heather O’Leary and Amy Cooley. It was Corofin 2-08 Glenamaddy 1-0 at the break. The second half saw the girls continue as they left off from the firs half. Two more goals from Eabha Ledesma and Emily O’Connor put the game beyond Glenamaddy and the scoreline finished at Corofin 4-13 Glenamaddy 1-03. Captain Amy Coen accepted the Shield on behalf of the Club and the celebrations were very well deserved.

The Junior team made it a clean-sweep for the adult teams last week as they won the Junior Coen Cup Final on Sunday evening against Caltra Cuans in Corofin! Another dominant display from the team saw them hold a commanding lead at the break, Corofin 2-09 Caltra Cuans 0-05. The second half continued in the same vein and more goals flowed. The game ended up Corofin 5-12 Caltra Cuans 1-11. Goals from Louise Reilly (x2), Caoimhe Sice, Lorraine Ryder and Heather O’Leary proved the difference. Captain Michelle Molloy received the Cup on behalf of the Club and completed the Double-Silverware for the Club.
