GAA CLUB NOTES
Last Thursday evening the Intermediates played Micheál Breathnach in Round 3 of Division 3A in Corofin. It was a fine team performance by the lads who finished the game winners on a scoreline of Corofin 2-13 Micheál Breathnach 1-11. Goals scored by Matthew Cooley and Ryan Ludden.
On Friday evening the Juniors were away to Athenry for Round 3 of Division 4B. It was a tough game and the Juniors played some great football. Unfortunately they were unable to hold on to their brief lead in the 2nd half and narrowly lost out to Athenry’s 1st team. Scoreline Corofin 2-11 Athenry 2-13.
On Saturday evening the Seniors were away to Mountbellew-Moylough for Round 3 of Division 1A. The lads gained a decent lead in the 1st half going in ahead by 5 points at the break. They were able to hold on to that lead for the 2nd half and finished 6 point winners by full-time on a scoreline of Corofin 1-12 Mountbellew-Moylough 1-6, goal scored by Conor Brady.
This Wednesday the U-19’s play Tuam Stars in Tuam at 7:00pm for their Round 2 fixture of the U-19 ‘A’ North League.
The Galway Football Minor panel for 2023 was named and the Club are proud of Killian Joyce, Rodd Coen and Vincent Gill having been named on the panel. It is a great achievement for the lads and we wish them every success at County level for the year ahead.
LGFA CLUB NOTES
On Saturday the Senior team played Claregalway in Claregalway for Round 2 of Division 1. I was a tough game and the girls played well. Unfortunately they were unable to come out on top, finishing on a scoreline of Corofin 0-9 Claregalway 3-7.
On Sunday morning the Junior B team played Caltra Cuans in Caltra. The girls played some great football and finished up winners on a scoreline of Corofin 5-20 Caltra 1-03. Goals by Katie Quigley (x3) Heather O'Leary and Lauen O'Brien.
The Club wishes our Club players in the Senior County panel the very best of luck in the NFL Division 1 Final next Saturday in Croke Park.
CLUB CELEBRATION NIGHT
Save the date! Please note the revised date for the Club Celebration Night is May 26th. A great night will be in store as we present medals due to players, including All-Ireland medals for two of the historic 3-in-a-row teams! Details on venue, tickets, etc will be announced in due course. We look forward to celebrating our Club’s recent successes with as many of our Members and Supporters as possible.
