The Club Lotto is vital to supporting the Club in maintaining the great facilities we have and to ensure the underage teams are fully resourced with training equipment, first aid, etc. Our membership numbers are growing at each grade which puts an increased demand on the playing surfaces and equipment. Your continued support for our Lotto in greatly needed and appreciated, as it enables us to meet this demand year-round.

Over the coming weeks we have great Lucky Dip prizes to be won, including Dinner for 2 at local restaurant The Abbey Restaurant in Knockdoe and a 2 Night stay in the Clifden Station House Hotel.

If you have not played the Lotto yet, or your subscription has expired, please visit our website corofingaa.ie to enter our lotto. There are great value “Three for €5” tickets that can be purchased and there is an ‘auto-renew’ feature that can be used to ensure you don’t miss out.

GAMES

Last Tuesday (21st) our Junior team hosted Caherlistrane in Corofin in Div 4B League. It was a great game with Caherlistrane winning with the narrowest of margins, 2-11 to 2-12. The game was the Junior’s last League game.

On Friday the Junior A team played against Tuam Stars in Corofin in the Junior A Championship North. The lads led at half-time thanks to a goal from Seán Silke but Tuam came out for the second half rejuvenated and finished strong to win the game 1-18 to 1-16. Despite the result the lads can take positives from the game as it was our 4th adult team playing Tuams 2nd adult team.

Galway Senior Footballers showed great courage and belief in the face of tactics contrary to the spirit of the game and beat Armagh on penalties to book their place in the All-Ireland Semi-Final against Derry in Croke Park on the 9th July. The club are immensely proud of the performance and conduct of Club players Liam Silke, Dylan McHugh and Kieran Molloy. Well done to Padraic Joyce & Co and we wish them the very best of luck against Derry.

The Club wishes Henry Shefflin, Dailthí Burke and players the very best of luck as they play Limerick on Sunday at 3pm in Croke Park in the All-Ireland Hurling Championship.

UNDERAGE NOTES

Due to adverse weather forecast, the U12 Shield Final against Oranmore-Maree in Tuam Stadium on Friday evening was postponed until a later date.

The U13’s had a great win over Salthill-Knocknacarra at the Prairie with a scoreline of 2-16 to 0-5. Goals from Ryan Connolly and Rory Fahy.

SYMPATHY

The club offers its sympathy to the families and friends of the following who have dies recently:

Kathleen Burke, Woodquay

Brendan Burke, Tyldesley, Manchester; brother of Joe and Robert Burke, Caheravoola.

Phelim Murphy, Turloughmore. The Club wish to acknowledge the dedication and work that Phelim gave to Turloughmore Hurling and also to Galway Hurling. Phelim was one of the key members who set up the Hurling Couty Board and laid the solid foundations for success that has been enjoyed since. His passing has been felt in every corner of the Hurling and GAA community.

May they rest in peace.
