We lost to Claregalway by 1-7 to 2-8 in the under 19 A North championship played in Corofin last Wednesday. Our under 17s (minors) defeated St. James by 3-8 to 2-9 in the quarter final of the A championship played in Mervue on Sunday. We were defeated by Caherlistrane in round 2 of the junior championship, north, on a scoreline of 2-4 to 1-10 played in Caherlistrane on Sunday. FIXTURES:
Our intermediate team’s final group game is against Williamstown, at 4.00 pm on Saturday in Milltown. We play Claregalway in Claregalway on Saturday at 6.00 pm in round 3 of the junior championship, north. Our seniors play their final group game against Monivea-Abbey at 1.45 pm on Sunday in Kenny Park, Athenry. We play Claregalway in the junior B championship at 5.45 pm on Sunday in Barnaderg. The club offers its sympathy to the family and friends of the following who died recently: Vera Keaveney, Clough/USA, sister of Frankie Keaveney; Frank Fahy, Galway Road, Tuam. Frank played at right half back on the Corofin junior team which captured the county final in 1959 defeating Clonbur in the final by 0-5 to 1-1. This was the club’s first trophy since the senior county final win of 1946. May they rest in peace.
