UNDER 13 DIVISION 1A CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to our under 13 team who captured the under 13 Division 1A title defeating Caherlistrane by 1-8 to 0-5.  The game was played in Headford on Sunday.  Shane Canavan captained the team.  The manager is Alan Kelly and mentors included Cecil Looney, Brian McDonald, and Tommie O'Brien.  The team did a victory tour of the parish on Sunday evening.  Well done to all involved.

CLUB GAMES:

Our minors were defeated by Northern Gaels (Glenamaddy-Glinsk-Williamstown) in Corofin on Saturday evening on a scoreline of 0-12 to 3-12.   We play Caherlistrane  in Corofin at 7.30 pm on Friday evening.

Congratulations to the Tony Gill and Matthew Cooley who have been selected for the Electric Ireland Minor Football Team of the Year 2018.  Well done lads.

We had a busy Sunday evening in Mountbellew when we played two junior games, winning both.

We defeated Ballinasloe in the Junior North Board semi-final by 4-17 to 0-2.  The goals came from Cathal Newell (2), Justin Burke and Conor Newell. The other semi-final between Mountbellew-Moylough and Kilkerrin-Clonberne ended in a draw at 13 points each.

Our second game that evening was the Junior C Championship North final group game against Mountbellew-Moylough.  The final score in a hard fought game was Corofin 3-5 to Mountbellew-Moylough 0-10.  Our goals were scored by Seán Silke, Oisín Corcoran and Seán Raftery.  We now top the group with all our five games played.  Well done everyone.

Our Junior A team will play the North Board final against Pádraig Pearses at 1.30 pm in Barnaderg on Saturday.  We send best wishes to the team and ask for your support at this game.

Our seniors will play their final group game against St James’ in Pearse Stadium at 2.15 pm on Sunday afternoon.

Congratulations to Ian Burke who received an All-Star nomination.

UNDERAGE:

Our under 8 team travelled to Newbridge Sarsfields GAA Club in Co. Kildare on Saturday to take part in a blitz with 48 teams from around the country.  All enjoyed a great day out.  Special thanks to all players, parents and coaches for travelling and to our hosts Newbridge Sarsfields.

SYMPATHY:

The Club offers its sympathy to the families and friends of Mary Burke, Manchester, who died recently.  She was a sister in law of Joe and Robert Burke, Caheravoola.  May she rest in peace.
