CLUB LOTTO:

No winner of lotto jackpot and two match 3s, Treasa Mhic Dhonnchadha and Pat Burke, Annaghill. Numbers drawn 8, 20, 26, 30. Seller’s prize Patricia Langan. Next week's jackpot is €6,800 and draw in Club Office.

 

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP:

Galway footballers play Monaghan in their final quarter-final Group 1 game on Saturday evening at 6.00 pm in Pearse Stadium. 

 

Galway minor footballers qualified for the All-Ireland semi-final following their 18 points to 11 victory over Clare played in Tullamore on Sunday.  Well done to the Club players involved, Tony Gill, Matthew Cooley and Conor Halbard. 

 

LEAGUE GAMES:

We drew with Killannin in the league, division 1 on a scoreline of 1-10 each, played in Killannin last Thursday evening.  The Corofin goal was scored in the first half by Cathal Newell.

 

In the league, division 4 we continued our good run, defeating St. James' by 2-20 to 1-6 played in Mervue on Friday.  The Corofin goals came from Padraig Hanly and Cathal Newell.    

 

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP:

We played three junior championship games in the last week, winning all three.  The results are as follows:

Junior Championship North – Group B, played in Clonberne on Tuesday of last week, Corofin 4-13 to Kilkerrin-Clonberne 1-12.

Junior A Championship North – Group A, played in Corofin on Sunday, Corofin 7-11 to Monivea-Abbey 1-12.

Junior C Championship North – Group A, played in Kiltormer on Sunday, Corofin 2-10 to Kiltormer 1-10.

Very well done to all players and mentors involved.       

           

UNDERAGE:

We lost out to Monivea-Abbey in under 15 division 1 (North) played away last Tuesday. 

 

CONGRATULATIONS:

The Club sends its congratulations to Stephen Hession (Manager) and Louise Coen (player) on the victory by Galway under 16 girls in the All-Ireland final. 

 

SYMPATHY:

The Club offers its sympathy to the families and friends of the following who died recently: Connie Quinn-Ryan, Ballinderry; Bridie Cavanagh, (née Morris), Cregg, Currandulla and formerly Corbally, Cummer;  Josephine Sheridan (née Bohan), Shrule, sister of Marie Igoe, Corofin.  May they rest in peace.

 

LADIES FOOTBALL:

All-Ireland U16 Ladies Football Final – Galway 3-16 to Kerry 3-11. 

Galway came back from seven points down to beat Kerry in extra time to win the under 16 final.  Galway were the underdogs going into the game, but they took the game to Kerry. Congratulations are due to both Stephen Hession for his management role and Louise Coen for her exceptional performance in the backs during the whole campaign including the final.  Both represented Corofin exceptionally well on Galway teams and both have won their second consecutive All Ireland title.
