CLUB NOTES:

Galway footballers lost out to Kerry by 8 points on a scoreline of 1-18 to 0-13 in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Croke Park on Sunday.  Bernard Power, Liam Silke, Michael Farragher and Ian Burke were all involved with Ian scoring 5 points and being nominated for the RTE Sunday Game man-of-the-match award.

We wish Daithí Burke and the Galway hurlers all the best as they take on Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday in Croke Park.

We drew with Headford in the division 5 (North) game played on Friday in Headford on a scoreline of Corofin 2-10 to Headford 3-7.

The division 1 game versus Caherlistrane scheduled for Saturday evening was postponed.

As was stated in last week’s notes Pat Holian, RIP, formely Corofin died recently.  Pat played full forward on the St Jarlath’s College, Tuam team, which captured the Hogan Cup in 1958.  St Jarlath’s defeated Franciscan College, Gormanston by 1-7 to 2-3 in the final played in Croke Park.  Full back and captain was Seán Nolan, who remains the only Corofin player to captain a winning Hogan Cup team.  My thanks to Paddy Keating for continually keeping us updated on past events relating to the Club.

Best wishes to the Galway minors footballers who take on Cavan in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday at 2.00 pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Congratulations to the Galway U-16 Ladies footballers who have won the All-Ireland title last week, defeating Cork by 3-15 to 2-11. Congratulations to our latest All Ireland winners Louise and Aoife Coen and Karen Connolly who were the Corofin players on the Galway team.
