MENS NOTES:

The weekend proved to be a very successful one for our parish teams and players.  On Friday evening our under 15 boys won the division 1 league final.  On Saturday Sylane hurlers won the Connacht Club junior championship and on Sunday our senior footballers progressed to the Connacht Club final.  Also on Friday night, Daithí Burke picked up a GAA / GPA All Star award for hurling.   Not to be outdone our ladies have had 4 players nominated for the Ladies Gaelic Football Association 2015 All Star awards.  Well done to everyone involved.

In the Connacht Club Senior Football Championship semi final we had an excellent victory over St. Mary’s, Sligo on a scoreline of 4-14 to 2-6.  The goals were scored by Micheál Lundy (a penalty) and Martin Farragher (3 goals).   Interestingly Micheál was nominated as the Galway Bay FM ‘man of the match”, while Martin received the Connacht GAA Club award.  Well done to both of them and to the team on a great display in difficult underfoot conditions.  We want to give a special ‘thank you’ to our loyal supporters who travelled to Sligo on Sunday.  We play Castlebar Mitchels in the Connacht final on Sunday 22 November in Tuam Stadium at 2.00 pm.

Our Intermediates have finished in joint second place with Glenamaddy in the league, one point behind Williamstown.  They will now play Glenamaddy for a place in the league final against Williamstown.

Congratulations to the Under 15 team on winning the league final on Friday last defeating Tuam Stars on a scoreline of 9-13 to 4-5. The match was played in Glenamaddy and our lads put in a very good performance.  Afterwards the cup was presented to the winning captain, Dean Hynes by PJ Rabbitte, Chairman of Coiste Peil na nÓg.  Well done also to the management team of Richard Broderick, John Carr, Gerry Collins and Frank Morris.

The Club offers its congratulations to Sylane hurlers who captured the Connacht Club Junior Championship defeating Calry/St Joseph's (Sligo) by 1-18 to 2-7.

The David Canney tournament for under 13 players takes place in Belclare on Sunday from 10.00 to 1.00.

The Pete Burke and Enda Colleran u11 Blitz organised by Salthill Devon for under 11 players takes place in The Prairie on Sunday.

The club would like to draw attention to an upcoming event entitled “Cycle against Suicide, Galway – Lets TRY to save one life”.  The cycle takes place on Saturday, November 21st.  Registration is from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at GMIT College, Galway. The cycle is 44 k leisurely; so let’s spread the message "That it's okay not to feel okay and it's absolutely okay to ask for help".  For further details contact Ciara at 087 7673421 (9pm to 10pm any day).

LADIES FOOTBALL:

Congratulations to Corofin Ladies players Patricia Gleeson, Tracey Leonard and Áine Seóige who have all been nominated for the Ladies Gaelic Football Association 2015 All Star awards for their performances this season for Galway Ladies. The Club is extremely proud of their achievements and we wish them all the best at the awards ceremony on 14th November, which will be televised by TG4.
